I was about to buy an IBM 120XP series, but i heard some bad things about it... about it still jacking up just like the 75series. I was thinking about Seagate, but i wanted to check my choices with you guys.

thanks

anyone else wanna take a crack at this? I plan to purchase the HD by the afternoon....

what makes Maxtor your choice over Seagate and IBM?

oh yeh, i was referring to performance... could really care less about the price.... the price differences arent really a concern to me.... and please dont mention SCSI....

Anything under 100GB should automatically go to the Maxtor D740X, it has the fastest access times in its class, and it's very quiet, I have no problems recommending it. For 100GBs and above, look into the IBM 120GXP or the WD Caviers.

I`ve a Maxtor D740X HD and yes I recommend it for speed and quietness, don`t forget Maxtor has excellent customer support as well.

It's faster.

BTW, you don't know that any hard drive you buy is going to fail on you. Why not try the 80GB 120GXP?

After having 3/3 IBM drives die on me, I'm very wary of them.
