I'll be getting an Asus P5B (vanilla) soon, and I'm interested in getting a new HSF for overclocking purposes. Which one would you guys recommend? I've looked at the Big Typhoon and the Zalman CNPS9500, but I'm not sure which would best suit my needs.

best value=arctic cooling freezer 7 pro. $21 @ provantage.com! Performance on par with scythe ninja, for $15 less. The zalman 9500, though quiet, is pretty overpriced IMO.

Best is Tuniq Tower and Scythe Infinity. However C2D can get by with the stock cooler just fine.

the problem with the freezer is that it performs poorly when airflow is low.If u have a some case fans that won't be an issue.
I agree acegazda on the 9500 being overpriced. But that would be the best option.

For overclocking?

Yes, for modest overclocking involving FSB only increases. For an extreme system where you want to squeeze out every last drop of performance by increasing Vcore then no.

If you OC with the stock HSF turn off Q-fan.
