...for a XP2400? Doing a cheap build here for a friend.
No overclocking. Going in an Antec SX830 case.

Thanks for any suggestions.

taisol GCK760xxx does the job nicely for my 2400xp and is pretty cheap. SK6 or better the SK7 isnt THAT much more though tbh, and should allow quieter fan (esp the sk7 which allows 80mm)

also, coolermaster x-dream fir 8.99 at svc is really good

better to spend the extra couple bux on a slk 800 (24bux at case-mod.com) o ran aeroflo.

the coolermaster xdreams are ok if you can stand the noise, the 25db rating on the box is the biggest lie i've seen. it makes a funny noise at low rpm i've never heard before, i guess thats why so many are returned to frys. i guess it would work ok if you had a fan to replace it with.

coolermaster isn't a small brand,i wonder how they get away with not being bashed for their insanely optimistic noise ratings.

If you don't already have the CPU, just buy retail. They are rarely more than $5-$10 more than their OEM counterparts, and include a 3-year warranty (and, of course, the HSF).

I thought TT was the champ for their insanely optimistic noise rating. ;)

BTW, if you take off the plastic fan grill, you will quiet the Xdream slightly.
