These two freaked me out a tonne when I first watched them:

First appearance of Leatherface in the original Texas Chainsaw. Awesome and kind of comes from out of nowhere. That whole movie is creepy really; the dinner scene? Yikes.

The Shining has two parts; the little girls of course and the shot of the guy in the rabbit costume in the hotel room. That last one still creeps me out even though I've seen that movie probably around 20 times.

I thought The Strangers was pretty chilling, simply because shit like that can and does happen all the time. If I ever get to thinking about it when I'm home alone at night, I avoid looking out the windows. I generally think slashers are extremely boring, and not even worth watching most of the time. But The Strangers, now that was pretty scary.

I liked this movie as well. Saw it in the theatre with a girl and she was a freaking wreck; the usher came through part way through the film and this girl screamed at the top of her lungs she was so startled. :D

When I saw the howling for the first time it gave me nightmares for months. In my dreams I'd always do what I screamed at the movie characters to do while the werewolf performed it's metamorphosis, but it never mattered. There's something about the short period you have to run away while the werewolf is changing into wolf form that makes the idea of a werewolf even more terrifying.
