Personally based I looks I like the blue HJC. Make sure you try them on if possible though - looks don't matter too much if it doesn't fit your head correctly.

I'd go with the Scorpion or the HJC.

Try on the helmet though to make sure. Have someone take measurements of your head for you. Something like 50% of riders wear the wrong-sized helmet because they only bought what they thought would fit. The helmet is the most important piece of gear - make sure you get one that fits!!

I know you can call Revzilla and they will help you choose a helmet. They also have a video guide on taking head measurements. Revzilla.com - they're good guys, very nice, very helpful. They helped me pick my helmet out (I went to their store in person).

My priorities when I bought my helmets....

First, Snell rating.

Second, fitment.

Ended up with an Arai. The Shoei's came close, but the Arai line just fit my head better. Wife ended up with a Shoei.

If you only look at cost and "looks" when deciding on a helmet, heaven help you.

Think safety and fit first, looks and cost second. After all, you're trying to protect one part of your body that won't "grow back" or heal itself very well, like an arm or leg fracture can. Brain damage is sort of permanent. Give yourself the best chance you can.

More money != more protection

Get the one that fits you the best.

The helmet should feel snug and just on the edge of too tight all the way around without causing "hot spots" (areas of pressure that feel like heat after a few minutes).

Also get a helmet that has the best ventilation in the price range you are shopping.

Helmet Harbor (http://www.helmetharbor.com) has excellent video reviews of most makes/models.

I think most people make the mistake of buying a helmet that is comfortable which probably means it is too loose. Like you said, it should feel snug. A good test is to put the helmet on and then try to twist it around on your head. If you can twist the helmet around or pull it off it is too loose.

I have a Shoei RF1100 in medium that fits me well.

I've got a Scorpion EXO-700 and it works well for me. Both Snell and DOT Certified.

Before you buy online, go into a local store and try on the brand. Make sure it fits well. Nothing worse than an ill-fitting helmet when you need it the most.

As others have posted, it should feel snug, but not to the point of being painfully uncomfortable. A little discomfort is ok as the padding will break in a little as you wear it.

Just to pile onto what everyone else has said:

It should be snug. So snug that it will feel too small.

Different brands 'fit' differently, quality issues aside.

I've had multiple HJC and liked them a lot, other than the visor latches wear out after ~50 or so changes.

I have a scorpion exo-1000 right now and love the flip down sunvisor but the build quality (vents, latches, etc) is imo poor although I feel like it's "safe".
