Going to buy my parts soon and going to oc, w00t, i need a good hsf to go with it, are their any hsf that will mount on a dfi mobo with no problems that i can oc with. Im planning on getting a 3700+ san diego to around 2.8 ghz 🙂. Suggestions would be great! Thanks!

The Thermaltake Big Typhoon works pretty well with the stock fan and even better with the optional VR fan..............😉

xp-120 is fine, as long as you have the heatpipes facing the video card, and dont have really tall memory.

Dont you guys think the Zalman 9500 will rip off your motherboard lol. Looks to be really heavy and looks like if do drop it on something it can do a pretty decent amount of damage. What do you guys think?

The Cooler Master Hyper 6 & 48, Zalman CNPS7700-Cu & CNPS7000B, XP-90 & XP-120 are all great coolers. I'm very interested in the performance of the Zalman CNPS9500 though.

It weighs less than the 7700.

'going to oc'

consider watercooling as that CPU has a lot of transistors and flipping them off and on faster will make some heat........better find some benchmarks before you use a stock cooler or othr than the best air cooling that others did.....then wonder if your room is hotter than the test room's you see-----------do not forget that HSFs dump the heat right in the case wheras water usually take the heat out of the case..the CPU heat might aggravate the video card....probably use a blow hole with an intake fan to the video card

like 65F in winter is not 80F in he summer with air cooling

I installed an XP-90 on my DFI nf3 this morning... but used the stock motherboard screws (longer) to install the new HSF mounting kit instead of using the supplied screws (shorter), and the extra length of the screws pressed up against my motherboard tray, and the pressure bent my motherboard a bit.

Nothing broke that I could see, but the board won't post by itself or in a testing rig. I hope DFI is looking forward to receiving it in the mail.

The point of this story is that the XP-90 mounts on the DFI nf3 just fine, but if you do something stupid you'll be replacing your motherboard before you get to test it out. =)

I bought an ASUS K8N-E to replace it, and I'm happy to report that the XP-90 is kicking ass on it as I type. I recommend it, on both boards!
