which heatsink to get?

This is my first time overclocking (or attempting to) so I would really like to get this right.

I recently purchased a couple new parts for my computer, so here are my specs as of now.

AMD Athlon Barton 2500+
MSI K7N2 Delta-L
2x256 PC3200 Kingston HyperX
ATI Radeon 9600XT
120GB 7200RPM Western Digital Special Edition

I also just purchased a Vantec 92mm Tornado fan, along with a Vantec Nexus Fan Contoller, but I'm still waiting on those parts to arrive. Right now I'm using the stock AMD heatsink and fan, as I bought the processor retail and my CPU is idling around 51-55C, which is a bit too high to begin with, especially if I OC'ed it. When that fan and the controller arrive, the only fans that I'll have in my case will be that one and the default PowMax fan that came with the case. Let me know also if I should go pick up anymore.

I'm looking to pick up a Thermalright heatsink, as I've read good things about them on this forum, but I'm not sure which one to get, or if there is a better heatsink that I should get instead. As of now I'm torn between the Thermalright SLK-947U (here) and the Thermalright SP-97 (here), but if there is something better that I should get instead, I'd definitely change my mind. I just have read a lot of good things about Thermalright, which is why I've chosen those two to debate over.

Please give me some advice, as I definitely do not want to mess up my first time around and get discouraged. Thanks.

Unless you are going for a water cooling
SP97 is the best thing out there currently
Make sure you can mount it on your MB (it?s compatible with most but not all)

You're also going to want more than one case fan. A good heatsink isn't going to be effective if the ambient temp in the case is baking.

You don't need to pay that much for a good HSF. The Speeze WhisperRock II or FalconRock are super, and a steal at the prices Newegg is getting for them - just read the reviews there.

Thanks a lot for the advice guys. You're right, I didn't realize that my motherboard didnt have mounting holes, so I went ahead and ordered the SLK-900A, along with a tube of Ceramique.

I also found an extra Antec case fan (82mm I think) that was in an old case of mine, so I'm gonna throw it in my current setup, although I'm not sure the quality of the fan. With the Tornado, and these other two, would you say that's enough or should I order another fan or two? I was thinking getting a Panaflo if needed, since I've read that they are nice fans and not very costly.

That is not necessarily true. Many people do just fine with one low rpm case fan on hotter running rigs than a Barton.

That should be fine, Tornado and the SLK-900A will cool very well.Might need some front fans for the hdd though.

i have a 900a keeps my 2400+ @ 2.5GHz @ 36C running seti 24/7
