which heatsink is better

I'm struggling b/w 2 heatsinks from thermalright now. One is HR-01 4U and the other is AXP-140 RT. I want to use it on 2100T to do fanless. 4U is 4 heatpipes and 140 RT is 6 heatpipes, but 4U is twice the height as 140 RT, so which one is better. the more heatpipe or taller is more efficient? Thank you, and merry christmas.

PS: I have to put the heatsink into a 166mm tall case, this is the reason I use 4U, not the other taller ones as HR-02.
 
I'd expect the tower cooler to receive better airflow from case fans... but on the other hand, the top-down cooler will have fins vertically arranged so that hot air doesn't get blocked by the metal sheets when attempting to escape without a fan to blow air. Hard to say for sure without testing both... but given that the AXP has more heatpipes and 60g more mass, I'd probably go with that. You can still add a low noise fan on it, e.g. a 140mm 800RPM fan @ 5V so you won't even hear it.

Do you think fin distance for AXP-140 is too small for fanless?
 
I have no idea... Some heatsinks just don't perform well fanless, but you'd expect that at 550g heavy it'd perform at least as well as a stock intel heatsink. Test it and you'll know. I would suggest though that there's little point in running it fanless when you can have it virtually silent with a low-RPM fan.

This, a good low speed fan will help a lot and you won't hear it.
