Which HDTV would you buy

Tax refund is on the way and I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on an HDTV.

I keep going back and forth between plasma and DLP and I just can't make up my mind. Not changing bulbs and a wider viewing angle are obviously attractive for the plasma, but I just can't get past the idea of spending nearly 2 grand without getting 1080p. What would you do?

PS I'll be doing a lot of gaming (360 for now, probably a PS3 is they ever release some games) but also movies, sports and normal TV.

1080p really only matters if you are going to be sitting closer than about 8 feet. Any further than that and the difference between 720p and 1080p can't be seen by the average 20/20 vision human.

Personally, I would go with a Pioneer 5070HD which is much better than the Panny at upscaling and IVTC which means your standard def stuff will still look really good.

I'd love to go with the Pioneer, but I can get the Panny for $1727, and it looks like the Pioneer would be another $700 at least.

I have a 42PX60U, and XBOX 360 looks gorgeous. Great for gaming, and I love the wide viewing angle.

I would suggest you get your money back if they didn't. Wasn't my point.

I realize that, and didn't mean to imply that it was. My point was that I haven't had any issues with gaming (and that it looks good too).

Regardless, OP I recommend you check out AVSForum.
