WD 200 GB - $170 Cdn.

Segate 200 GB - $181 Cdn.

Both 8 MB cache, 3 yr warranty on WD, 5 on Seagate...what do you recommend.

Noise is not a big concern.

Price/reliability is the main thing here.

Sorry, there was supposed to be a poll, but i can't figure out how to get it working.

Hitachi and Samsung were both quieter than the latest Seagates last time I checked, and many WD drives turn out whiny. So neither :)

Hitachi makes a "Meow" noise.

Not their newer drives.
I have a 180GXP which does make that noise, none of my 7K250's do it though.

And to the OP, I vote Seagate, but honestly, it's mostly because of personal preference, I've had better luck with Seagate's as far as reliability goes, still only my personal experience, so FWIW.
