So this may just be a matter of preference, but I'm trying to figure out how to configure the drives I've collected over the last few years for my new build:

I have 2 1tb drives that I'll be putting in raid 1 for data.

I then have 3 drives left - 2 74gb raptors and an older sata 250. I need to install both vista and xp, so I could do one of 3 things:

1. Put Vista on the 2 raptors in raid 1 and xp on the 250
2. Put Vista on one raptor, xp on the other, and sell the 250.
3. Put vista on the 2 raptors in raid 0, and xp on the 250.

Any thoughts or ideas?

I vote #3... partly.

RAID 0 the raptors for Vista... partion 148GB of the 250 for backup of Vista. Use the other 102 GBs for XP

Yeah, RAID0 those raptors for Vista. :) I did that a few months ago and HOLY CRAP the performance boost over just one raptor for the OS is amazing. Vista loves to index and scan stuff in the background (I know you can turn these services off) but why decrease future performance for a small gain right away? (some people turn off the Superfetch)

When I enter my login password, I'm ready to use the OS in about 3-5 seconds, literally. Everything is already started and loaded after that timeframe.

As joutlaw already said, option #3. ;)
