Weird question - I have two drives each with two partitions. The two smaller partitions each have NTFS and are roughly the same size. How do I tell which partition goes with which drive?

This is windows XP.

Settings, Control Panel, Adminstrative Tools, Computer Management, Storage, Disk Management

Hopefully that might be able to help you.

Normally.....
Disk 0 is should be the drive on your first SATA port
Disk 1 should be the drive on your 2nd SATA port, etc.

seemingly random

It would be logical if it was this way but it rarely is. It varies between mb's and I'm beginning to think it depends on the phase of the moon.

if they are not the same model drive; just unplug one and boot up; the 2nd partition would disappear.

if they are different drive model you should be able to see the underlying drive through storage manager

That works. Surprisingly, there are 3 partitions on one drive and the other just has 1. It's been so long since I did that I forgot.
