heres my 640 gb drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16822136218

and the raptor i believe only has a 8mb cache

i have my OS on the raptor now but im not sure if it would be faster on the bigger drive?

Also is it worth it to sell the raptor and get the newer version or are raptors just not really worth it at all? i know they effect they have on video game benchmarks isnt that great, but how much do they speed up my system?

Raptors are still faster. Ive been a fan of the raptors since they came out. They are still the fastest for booting/games/etc. Thats still what I use as my main boot. Use the big drive for storage and raptor for boot I say.

+1

I think if you look at read/write times Raptor, even the older ones, are faster. Hell, even some SCSI III drives are faster than the newest 7200 RPM drives. Gotta wear ear plugs with those though 😛

Throw the OS on the smaller drive, install and store everythign on the larger drive.

Most newer drives beat raptors in terms of writing and true bandwidth. But raptors make up in acces times and reads.
