Which HD Camcorder for capuring from my computer?

hi

Planning on buying a HD Camcorder which I want to double up as both a camcorder and a means of capturing video from my computer and I would appreciate some advice/recommendations.

I used to have a Sony DCR-PC8E with AV-input which I could use to capture video from my computer via a PC-TV device like this:

http://tomcom.ca/catalog/index.php?...id=390&zenid=1b6d086d8e528ac0996e0ca9600beaf4

and I could also use the DCR-PC8E for AV-DV conversion. The new camera needs to be able to do the same through ether an AV input/output or an alternative way of capturing - this is where I get a bit confused about all the new connections such as HDMI. Are there any cameras with HDMI input where I could capture video from my computer through some sort of DVI (or VGA) to HDMI converter like this:

http://www.supermediastore.com/produ...l-input-output

or DVI (or VGA) to Mini DV converter (does that even exist?).

As a camcorder I really only need a mid range camcorder not a pro-camcorder, 3 CCD or CMOS is preferable, surround sound capture would be good, reasonable battery upgrades (the Panasonic HD camcorders with chipped batteries are VERY expensive) and I see advantages in mini-dv but am open to other recommendations except DVD.

I have found one camcorder, the Canon LEGRIA HV40, which seems to fit most of my criteria - can anyone else here suggest others?

Thanks in advance.

No input about the camcorder, but check monoprice.com for all of your adapter/converter needs.

for capturing for your computer, see if you can make use of software such as FRAPS. it is free and will provide excellent quality

it may or may not work depending on which programs/activities you are looking to record.
