I've gone with Maxtor for the past 7 years and they've never failed me.

I've got a 20GB IBM and it runs fast and quiet. Maxtor's are also a good choice. I would go with whichever was the cheaper of those two.

I agree with Paulson. WD, IBM, Maxtor should be the best. WD is usually the most expensive, while Maxtor should be cheaper than IBM, but I personally like IBM more

I've used mostly wd's, but I just bought a new diamond max plus 15 gig from maxtor, I can't hear it. I know this is smaller than what you are looking at, but this series is spectacular. I have a wd 9 gig expert, which was supposed to be the same as a ibm, its quieter and faster.

overall my agreement lies with everyone else, you'll be alright with any of these.

I have all the hardrives and I prefer IBM, Western Digital and then Maxtor. Actually I am using Maxtor on my system and I really like it so you can't go wrong with any of those.

20 Gig Maxtor diamond max plus 20 7200 rpm. Staples has $40 off $150 right now. $110 for this is sweet. Just add a pack of rubber bands and code they give up willingly and you and Staples are happy.
