Which hard drive is better suited for me?

I can't decide between these two hard drives:
Western Digital Scorpio Black 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s

vs

Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s

I have a MacBook Pro 13'' and I plan on taking out the SuperDrive and putting a HDD in its place. Right now I have a 130gb HDD and it's WAY to small for me. I do a lot of photography work and I do sometime do some video work. So my question is that 320gb @ 7200rpm is it worth sacrificing the hdd space vs getting the 500gb hdd @54000rpm?

I was going to change the existing HDD with a SSD but the cost/storage is just not worth it for me.

Thanks guys,

I, personally, would never get a 5400rpm drive. That's just me. HD is already the biggest bottleneck in a computer, even at 7200rpm, no reason to get an even slower one.

Would it make any sense to buy a 7200 right now and in the future to upgrade my current drive to 500gb drive(for storage )? or would having a 5400 rpm drive slow down the 7200 drive?

Why not just a usb external drive?

If it is just for backing up files, i do not see an issue or do you always need all the files available on the road?

I would vote for an ssd for the os and external mass storage.

+1 for the WD Scorpio Black. I upgraded my laptop drive with this one and it was worth it without breaking the bank.

You can eventually add an external drive for storage...and still not break the bank.

I would rather have a external SuperDrive vs a hard drive, I do a lot of on site photoshoots and carrying an external hdd is not possible
