I have the following setup in an Inwin Q500 with 3 silencer fans, an Enermax 430watt PSU and Dual AthlonMP 1800+ CPUs:

In the 3.5" bay (top-down):
1 10,000 RPM 18 gig Cheetah
(Space underneath)
1 7200 RPM 80 gig Barracuda ATA IV
(Space underneath)
1 5400 RPM 80 gig Maxtor drive

Now, I am not too concerned about the airflow there, it is pretty decent, however, in my 5.25" bays (of which there are 5) top-down:
36 gig 15K Cheetah
18 gig 10k Cheetah
DVD-ROM (IDE)
Plextor 12/10/32S SCSI CD-RW
3.5" Floppy mounted in the bottom with a 5.25" mounting bracket.

It gets a bit warm in there, so I'm considering two options, the Vantec HCP-5252 and the Coolermaster DCD4002. I'd rather go with the Vantec because it doesn't look like it needs anything in the front of the case, and it seems like (in a closed case) it would produce less noise. However, I'm wondering if the DCD4002 would be significantly better at cooling. Not loosing a drive to heat is important to me, I've had it happen before - no fun.

Here are the URLs:
http://www.vantecusa.com/hcp5252.html
http://www.coolermaster.com/products/hdd/hd.html

Incidentally, I'm looking to buy them at InFlow Direct, its in NJ so for $5 shipping + tax on the order I effectively get overnight, and there the Vantec is $18 and the Coolermaster $25, so I'd rather get the Vantec although not having a HDD is worth $14 ;)

Incidentally, even though there isn't a lot of heat in the 3.5", would adding cooling to the 10,000 RPM and 7200 RPM drives down there make a big difference? As I said, they seem to have enough space between them.

Thanks,
-Jeff

this is so messed up! every time i want to mod something, snowpunk has already done a review on the EXACT stuff i'm looking at! i wanted to get a nice quiet hsf for my athlon xp. i started to look at the svc gc68, and he was the only guy who reviewed it! now, i noticed my antec psu fan is a little loud, so i want to change it. on his site, he did the same thing on the same psu! now just when i start thinking about cooling my hard drive, he reviews that stuff too! (btw, sorry for posting unrelated stuff in this thread.) :)
