Which hand do you wear your wedding ring on?

Yep, left hand, "ring finger" for marriage. Right hand, same finger for engaged.

At least at my catholic grade schools, they taught the order of the fingers as pinky, ring, middle, pointer, thumb.... a midwest oddity?

I never knew that about the right hand.

Is this true for most parts of the U.S.?

Perhaps you two have met. 😉

Definitely not 😀 Wedding "band" on the right hand and another ring I gave her on the left 😀

IMO, it really doesn't matter where one wears the wedding ring. As long as it's comfy, then it's good.

supposed to be left hand, ring finger.... If it's not there, female is fair game.

Ring finger on my left hand. Don't know anyone who wears it differently...

CMF how do you know they are wedding rings?

A lot of people are engaged will wear them on their right hand until they actually get married which the ring will be transfered a new ring will be put onto the wedding finger on the left hand.
I on the otherhand, haha didn't relize its a pun til i wrote it, wear my engagement ring on my left hand. I heard a couple days ago this is the scandinavian way.

Modern "authorities" on etiquette follow their predecessors in matrimonial procedure, in urging that the wedding ring always be worn on the third finger.

Before medical science discovered how the circulatory system functioned, people believed that a vein of blood ran directly from the third finger on the left hand to the heart. Because of the hand-heart connection, they chose the descriptive name vena amori, Latin for the vein of love, for this particular vein.

Based upon this name, their contemporaries, purported experts in the field of matrimonial etiquette, wrote that it would only be fitting that the wedding ring be worn on this finger. By wearing the ring on the third finger of the left hand, a married couple symbolically declares their eternal love for each other.

I hate BS pseudo-scientific explanations for things like that. I'm not saying that what you wrote isn't true, jsut that I think it's dumb.

Actually, he's right. I'm an English major with an emphasis in Medieval studies and that was standard medical belief, among others.
