I would never buy an Alvarez in the first place.
Better guitars available for that kind of money.

 I don't think he's in the market for a $2k+ guitar.

I bought an Alverez WY1 several years ago. It was, I think, Bob Weir's first signature Alverez; gloss black with gold hardware and lots of abalone binding. Great looking guitar and sound terrific by itself or direct using the piezo pickup. I really wanted that Koa model, but could never find one to try out. I'd imagine it has a darker sound due to the denser woods used in its construction. Have you played one of them?

I would go ahead and get a gibson if you're spending that much.

Gibson's are terrible in that price range.. even their high end electric guitars suck unless you go custom shop. For the money you can do a lot lot lot lot better.

The Gibson decal costs a lot of money ;)

?????????????????????????

YOU may not like Gibsons, but they definately do not suck. I'm on my 3rd Les Paul, and each one is like a work of art. People I talk to that say things like that are the same people that think Epiphone is just as good as Gibson.

Gibson guitars are hand made in the USA, are made of select SOLID woods, their 49X series pickups are legendary, each finish is unique, and they'll replace any failed components for the life of the instrument.

You get what you pay for, plain and simple.

If your spending more than a grand for an ax then you need to play everything untill you find the one that rings the tuning fork in your loins and then figure out how to pay for it later.

They have some really nice $15,000 guitars here that even come with a car:
http://www.v-dubsrock.com/ They're really nice guitars, but a little out of my price range....
I'd really love to have the first act that slash plays but I don't really need the VW.
