There are no reference 770s aside from a 450$ EVGA model using the Titan cooler. The difference with a reference card is that it uses a "plain" PCB will less overclocking ability, and generally has a reference cooler. There is only one 770 with a Titan cooler, and it is massively overpriced. Non reference cards used improved PCBs for better overclocking, quieter operation, and better cooling.

My favorites are the MSI Gamer, Asus DC2, and Gigabyte windforce. All of these cards are basically whisper quiet and have higher boost clocks than the respective EVGA 770 models - and they're also all cheaper than the EVGA 770s.

So that makes it a no brainer IMO. You really can't go wrong with any of the above 3. Note that there has been a couple of reports of coil whine on the GB, but others are reporting no coil whine. So buy from a place with a good return policy for insurance; although I do not think you will have issues. All three of those will be great cards.

i started a thread about this other day. Of all the cards that people recommended, MSI was given the most +1's.
I picked it up the other day (MSI GTX770 Twin Frozr), and it's still in shrink wrap as I am waiting till past the weekend for buyer's remorse to either go away or cause me to return it.

I prefer Nvidia over AMD as well. More of a coke over pepsi thing really, but it's just personal preference.

hey
thank you.
it helps a lot.
i was thinking about Asus or EVGA.

EVGA . They make only nVidia cards. You want to go nVidia then pick EVGA

Grab the 570 and have fun OCing it. gl

I would choose a (Gigabyte - Wind Force) GTX 770 4GB as future proof with consideration of SLI in the future. Yes it costs $100 more then a GTX 680 or HD 7970.

The GTX 770 is nothing more then a GTX 680 with faster VRam timing but in SLI a GTX 770 4GB will humiliate a Titan in all resolutions, including 2560 x 1600, if you choose to go that route, yet hold it's own for every day Hi-Res Gaming and Video by itself.

Suggest you wait a month or 2 and see what AMD has to counter offer as the prices of the 770 and 780 is bound to drop.

why ....?
I think gtx 770 is better than every card you mentioned ........
m I right .....?

Nope. 770 2GB/4GB have awful price/performance on the market.

1Ghz 7970 is $290 with 3 free games (that you can bank later for future titles up to Dec 31st). 770 is barely 5-6% faster and costs $400-450!

770 is hands down one of the most overpriced cards on the market now.

If you want Titan performance in 2 cards, get 760s instead or pick up a single 7970 1Ghz now and upgrade in 12-15 months to 20nm GPUs.

I agree with the guy who said about the HD 7970. If it is the same price as a GTX 770 though you might as well get the GTX 770.

Incorrect RS, he said better card than those mentioned, in which it is...faster, he didnt say Perf/$...

I'm partial to MSI and Asus cards. They have great coolers and good PCB quality. I'd only buy EVGA if they were cheaper. I've never purchased a Gigabyte card before so I don't know much about their quality etc. Just what I read online which seems pretty positive overall.

7970s are cheaper and faster due to the bus width and IPC.
7970GE are cheaper but not faster. And you cant compare different architectures using bus width as absolute measure. It may help at high res, high AA, but even that is not guaranteed as many Nvidia vs AMD game benches show.

I agree both the GTX 770 and 780 are over priced and suggest you wait a month or 2 until AMD responds - I would say buy 2 x's 7950's in Cross Fire are the Best Bang for the Buck which will beat the GTX 780 - But are 2X's 7950's future proof compared to a GTX 770 4 GB - Just wait a little longer and see what's happening. After AMD responds, I'm sure the GTX 770 and 780 prices will drop.
