Which GTX 570 Version Should I Buy?

I'm torn between which GTX version to get.
  • The Zotac is the cheepest of them all and it has some the same specs of the other ones except there is no display port ( I think) and its Zotac and I've nver heard of them. There are also no reviews on NewEgg for it so I'm wary.

  1. The next one is the Gigabyte version which is in the middle of the price range and from what I see, it has the best specs. It has the highest core clock and highest shader clock, but it has 1 GB of memory.

  • The next two I'm a bot confused about. They are both EVGA and have the same specs, but they have different prices. They also have 1 GB of memory.

I'm very confused for which one to get. I'm leaning towards the Zotac one or the Gigabyte one. I'm not sure which is more important though. More memory of more core and shader clock numbers. Any help is appreciated.

At this point I'm don't think picking up a GTX 570 would be a wise decision. There are cheaper, faster, and more efficient solutions offered by both NVIDIA and AMD. I'll second shintai dk's question: why a GTX 570?

I've researched and on this site http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html it is high up and it has great reviews. It's supposedly very quiet and is a low price for its place on that benchmark list. All the other ones are very expensive for my budget.
Ah, that explains that. Passmark is a pretty poor measure to gauge card performance by look at actual game benchmarks. Anandtech has its own benchmark database to compare cards that have been tested: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU12/372 . You can select which GPU's to compare or look at all tested cards under a specific benchmark. What's your budget and what are you looking to play or do with the card? What resolution do you play at?

Actually, I just looked up GTX 660 Ti vs Radeon 7950 and I think I'll stick with the 7950. My resolution is 1366x768 and my budget is $300 or lower, absolutely not higher because I just bought an 850W power supply that was $150. I will be playing Guild Wars 2 and some FPS like BF3.

So do you think the 7950 is a good deal?

Go EVGA , the only true nVidia only maker. They make good quality nVidia cards.

Grab a 670 without any fancy OC name, and OC it yourself with EVGA precision and what not,, gl,,

Also their step up program is 180 days now.

I saw that it said that if you have a screen resolution 1080p or lower, the 660 Ti is a good deal but any higher and the Radeon 7950 performs better.

I think you should consider dropping $100 off your gpu budget and buy a decent 1080p monitor as well.

You could do that with a GTX 560Ti 448, a 7850, and maybe if you stretch a bit a 7870/660.

I would not buy a high end $300 video card for a 720p screen, ever.

You really think a 1080 p monitor is that important?

In the scope of what you're asking, yes I think a 7850/448/7870/660 + 1080p is a better setup than a 7950/660Ti + 768p.

Okay, I've made up my mind ( kind of). I've just searched and found out that with a GTX 660 Ti, GTX 570, or other high end video cards with a 1366x768 screen, (which I'm not going to change because I don't have money to throw away) is too much and is overkill. So what card is great for 1366x768 resolution that can max out the graphics? On another blog someone said "at 1366x768, a GTX 460, HD 6850, HD 5850 will max any game at that resolution" but I want to hear from you guys.

Well, you're better off getting a current video card and saving towards a monitor upgrade to 1080p... you will want to eventually.

If you get an old gpu now, it'll work flawlessly on 768p... but lets say next year you want to go 1080p? then you'll be looking for a new gpu again.

I'm on the bandwagon with others here, get an HD 7850 for $180 and then save some extra dollars within the next few months and upgrade to a 1080p monitor. That way you're not totally bottlenecked.

So, I've decided that I'll upgrade my monitor. But which card should I get. some of you said the 7850 and some of you said the 7950.

First get yourself a 1080p monitor, starting at around $130-140. 23-24" preferably, e.g. Asus VH242H $174

The GPU really depends on your budget. 7850 can handle 1080p fine, but if you can go up to 7950, why not. All the better. Some options I'd recommend

Asus 7850 2GB $195 ($185 AR)
MSI GTX 660 2GB $235 ($225 AR)
Asus 7870 2GB $250 ($230 AR)
EVGA GTX 660 Ti 2GB FTW $290 AP ($270 AR)
Sapphire 7950 3GB $305 ($285 AR) with free game

P.S. there's really no need to make three separate threads about the same thing.

Bad move on the power supply. I'm all for getting "lots of headroom" but when you are on a tight budget, you shouldn't be blowing $150 on a PSU like that. How long ago did you buy it and can you return it for something more right-sized for what you are getting (i.e. quality 450-550watt)?

Agree with TemjinGold... The PSU is at least twice as expensive as needed. Would be better to spend more on the monitor and the GPU.

Why a GTX570?

The only reason I think someone would want a GTX 570 over a GTX 660ti or GTX 670 is because the GTX 570 has much better double precision DirectCompute performance. Unless this feature is very important to you, the OP is better off with a GTX 660ti. Games don't use DP DirectCompute as I read somewhere, so as a gaming card there are better choices that the GTX 570 for the price.
