I ordered the radeon 8500 from dell on 10/2 when they were running that deal to get it for $200. Well I still haven't gotten it. So I am starting to look atthe geforce 3 ti 200 since it seems most of them overclock pretty damn good and the msi board can be had for $164. What are your guys/gals opinions? Should I keep waiting for dell or should I get a ti 200? Which ti 200's seem to overclock the best?

Thanks,
Flak

I would say just go with the GeForce 3 Ti 200. I don't have experience with it, but I'm guessing that the Gainward card overclocks well. All of there other cards do. I personally ordered the ASUS card because it was the only one that newegg had in stock at the time. I've had good luck with ASUS products anyway. I will be recieving it tomarrow, so I can't tell you about the performance yet.

I would venture to say that they are both abou the same speed. Some might argue with me, but they really are. The 8500 seems to overclock quite well. Over at Tom's Hardware Guide (www.tomshardware.com) I just read a report of him hitting 620MHz with his memory. I might wait until at least the drivers are updated to be faster and include SmoothVision before I make my decision. That's what I really want out of new video cards, better image quality. If that implementation of FSAA works better than Quincunx, then I'm sold. Also, it depends on wether you want to take a bit of a gamble or not. The 8500 definitely has the potential to become the fastest video card out there. It really depends wether you think ATi can eek enough performance out of the card to reach Ti500 speeds or more.

All depends upon your own requirements. If you absolutely NEED more FPS than you'll ever need in a lifetime right now or you'll die tomorrow, go for the GeForce. However, if you want a card that should meet or slightly exceed your gaming requirements right now and are willing to wait a little bit for "fully enabled" drivers to be released, get the 8500.
