Even a 9800gx2 cant run crysis maxed @ that reso I dont think.

8800gts 512 is probably what you wanna buy. I doubt the extra money for a gx2 is worth it. If you HAVE that kind of money, go with 2x 8800gts 512's they outperform the 9800gx2 in most cases and wind up being ~$100-150 cheaper, and will probably sell for more when you upgrade.

A 9800Gx2 would run games at that resolution, not all on max settings though. If you went SLI it might 🙂

does crysis look all that better at max settings compared with high and medium combo settings?

or is it just better frame rate?

Well, of course is not much better on very high compared with high, but is that stupid obsession to run the game maxed out.😉

No, you can make crysis look rediculously good without setting all to "Very High" . That Very High spec is just for futuretech I imagine.

The 9800GX2 is way better in crysis than the 8800GT for example.

But, even with the GX2 don't expect to max it out.

a mix of high and medium settings can give the best looks with >60FPS... on a GX2

you just have to know what you're doing when adjusting the settings.
