I have no idea then.

Looks like hardware encoding is supported and preferred.

Only things I found of use was this:

I doubt many people here are going to know the answer to your question.

You may wish to adjust your settings before buying additional hardware.

If you want to double the power of your rx480, an rtx3060Ti or rx6700xt will likely do that. Whether that is enough to achieve your goal, I do not know.

For what your doing (real time encoding), your likely better off with nvidia vs AMD or Intel.

Nvidia and AMD should both have upgraded media engines coming out. Then again Intel is supposed to have a great one.

I know everyone wants to rag on ARC, it's launch has certainly left more than enough to be desired. But the hw encoder is great, so that's a check there, and performance for price on modern API games like DOTA2 is fine. Judging by the 3060 numbers (ARC 770 is a competitor there), it looks like you should be able to play DOTA at 4k60+ with an ARC 770, if it ever launches. You'll also got (currently) worldbeating AV1 encoding performance, so it'll be future proof for any streaming/capture you might want.

As the lower end cards from Nvidia/AMD will probably launch next year, if the ARC 770 launches anytime soon you might want to seriously consider it.

But the hw encoder is great,

It is not supported by the software he is using.

Recommending this first release by Intel for encoding is questionable. The software support is just not there.

Maybe 2 years from now.
But not today.

Today everyone makes Nvidia work first, and amd is a distant after thought. Arc is not even on the radar.

if your capturing games from a console, i think your far better off getting a mid tier video card 6750XT or a 7700XT (when they launch) + a HD capture card, like a Elgato HD60X.
