vote please money really isnt a problem, i just need easy to use(my mom can barely check a eamil) mostly. the features that track without a satellite for a while like the TomTom Go 700 is a plus too.

how easy to use is it? my parents arent exactly technical geniuses.

Other

I use this with my Axim 50v and it's friggin awesome. Goes 17-20 hours on a charge, and has incredible sensitivity. Almost never loses a lock.

we didn't have that fancy of a model, but it was fairly easy to use, just to display stuff...shouldn't have a problem with that, glance at the manual, and they should be ok

have you looked at the Vista C ground mapping handheld GPS? i heard it's one of the best, i am looking for one for backpacking and long hikes

I love my Belkin BT GPS, and it was only $150. Not one problem so far and I usually get up to 9 satelites.
I like mine too, but where do you get updated software for it?

Good question, I stopped looking a while ago.

Go with the one that has the most versatile mapping. I believe garmins only allow mapsource products...not sure about others.

That's a DVD based system. Pick any of the ones on the OP's list, and it's a comprimise in some way. With both 700 model units, you have to worry about crashing the hard drives.
With the others, you have the pain of loading maps on to media. Will mom want to do that?

Well, I have been looking into the TomTom products because they seem to have one of the better user interfaces and processors for calculating and recalculating routes. The Maps are also supposedly better than most of the others. I am not sure what to think about the bluetooth features that differntiate the two. The pluses I see for each are:

GO 300
1 GB SD Card with all of North America
Weather and Traffic Updates via Bluetooth

GO 700
Hands Free Bluetooth
2 GB Hard Drive that can obviously fit a lot more info

What you looking at?

I was considering these very same GPS units. I'm hoping for more information of at least some links to gps forums.

I bought the Garmin C330 for my car a couple of months ago, and pretty happy with it. It has maps for all of the US, and Canada too (at least worked in Toronto). It has an easy to use interface.

Those can fit maps of the entire US. She won't have to load maps on.
