Which GPS for under, say, $250?

Do the GPSs also tell you the name of the food joints ahead? I am thinking about getting one for my parents and would be nice if Olive Garden or Cracker Barrel came up by name, as they are also traveling the states and seemingly eating there every time. :)

Any thoughts on these two units?

Best Buy has the Garmin nuvi 200 on sale through tomorrow for $199.99

Amazon has the Garmin nuvi 200 for $179.99 with free shipping and no tax. But you have to hurry as there's only 1 left in stock.

Thanks for the heads up, I just bought it

This is so wrong on so many levels. :)

So the 200 is better than the C330?!?!?! And it's worth the $50 premium over the Tom Tom v3?

Our Garmin c320 has been good to us for 2.5 years but I really want to upgrade to the nuvi with newer maps.

$180 shipped was a no brainer. Sales tax isn't an issue where I live

It won't make it in time for X-Mas, so I bought one for me and will go in-store to get one for the folks tomorrow.

So for the folks, the 200 or the C330 or the Tom Tom v3? :) Since you buddy-boinked me on the Amazon deal, how about some advice. :)

I did buy it, but starting to feel stupid for being so compulsive. :) I needed a unit for the folks and now have some 200 no Canada maps 5 hour battery with fancy car icon thing-a-ma-jing coming in the mail after Christmas! :)

Will it at least tell me where the Chinese buffets and Olive Gardens are?

If POI is important to you, I would suggest the Magellan Maestro 3225 which is on sale at CostCo.

Hmmn I just discovered Garmin's POI loader.

What's your favorite dish at Olive Garden?

I eat that Chicken Con Broccoli dish.

So I buy the 200 and now you tell me to buy one not on my list?

I just may have to call you up...got a unit coming after chirstmas with no Cracker Barrel lady voice to tell my folks where its at, which I will probably keep for me (and won't be able to find any Chicken Con Broccoli) and be forced to get up early tomorrow and buy another one, thereby putting retirement for another 2.5 years.

Did it ever occur to you to cancel your order?

I prefer authentic Italian food but have a weak spot for their Tuscan Garlic Chicken.

After reading this blog post and the comments, I don't think I'd buy a Magellan GPS. Of course if you never contact their support you're probably ok. At least if you buy it from CostCo it comes with a free standard 2 year warranty and 90 day return policy with no restocking fees.

Feel free to call me if you have any questions.

I have had the nuvi 200 for a couple weeks now, i didn't need mp3 player etc.. so this fits my needs. After i registered the unit garmin sent me the 2008 updated maps on a dvd there was the option of installing the lower 48 or canada. I have read you can put the canada map on a SD card.
go here to get just about any POI (points of interest) and use the garmin poi loader. http://www.poi-factory.com/

I saved all the custom poi's to a sd card using the garmin poi loader, After i backed up everything on the nuvi i deleted all the extra foreign voice languages to free up some space. Here is a good forum also: http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/default.asp?group=2

OMGWTFBBQ

Ripped from FW:

Garmin Nuvi 200 $149.99 Ritzcamera BM only

I did a search but didn't find a previous post.

Anyways $149.99 out of the door. I just got one from my local store. Lots of pricematch opportunities for Bestbuy, CC, etc. I didn't bother. Good luck.

Bestbuy has 12% coupon for rewardzone and $10 gift card for purchasing the GPS.

If you can successfully pricematch, will make it $131.99 + tax. Be even hotter if the gift card flies.
