Which gives better sound and why: cassette adapter or FM transmitter

My car has only a tape player and I have no real desire to change out the headunit as I just want to use my Archos Jukebox 20 in it. That part isn't HT. What is highly technical, is that I want to know whether those FM transmitters have a better sound quality over the tape adapters or not.

IIRC the tape is better as long as the head meet correctly, this sometimes need adjusting manually.

If you ever want to use a tape in this radio again, go with the FM adapter. That's because those tape adapters tend to push too strong a magnetic field into the radio's tape head, which might magnetize the latter. They're also less fiddly to use while driving. Just put the jukebox's frequency onto a station button, and there you go.

My CD/MP3 player has a tape adapter, which I use in the car with the tape player. It appears to provide decent sound quality (of course, this is a cheap Fix Or Repair Daily, with the original - crappy - speakers that came with it from the factory), and sound quality that would be better than a FM radio transmitter quality.

It really depends on the quality of tape and tape player vs the radio (whether it will get interference).

Does anyone have experience with satellite radio? How does this compare with good reception FM radio?
