So enlightened veterans guide me:
Sapphire Radeon X800 256MB vs Leadtek GeForce 6800GT 256MB AGP (A400 GT TDH) both available for the same price....
which wins?
THings I would consider:
raw power/performance
other features
noise [the 6800GT is a BIG mofo needing 2 pci slots clear!]

okay to my annoyance the 6800 has gone; how does the plain x800 256 mb stack up against a 6600GT 128mb?

rig it is going into [to replace a 9500pro]: Nforce2 A7n8X-D 2 mobo, XP-M 2500 [imminently due to be o/c to 3200+!], Sapphire Radeon 9500Pro, Enermax 353W PSU, maxtor 120GB HDD, DVDRW, CDRW, 3xpanaflo case fans; XP Pro

6800gt, and what do you mean it takes up 2-pci slots? Its a single slot cooling design....but yes a 6800gt will murder an x800.

also OP if there's a way check to see which revision the leadtek 6800gt is A1 or B1, i remember there was a issue the the Winfast A400 GT (rev. A1)

well thats a custom made hsf from leadtek, the reference design is usually what people refer to when they talk about cards, if i asked about an x1900xt would you tell me about the sapphire liquid cooled card? Or would you refer to its stock reference design?

sapphire has a liquid cooled x1900xt?...jk

when the OP mentioned a Leadtek 6800gt agp, and stated that it takes up 2 slots (btw. i used to own one) i knew the heatsink was custom made and very BIG...easily blocking the adjacent pci slot, i just wanted to point that out about the Leadtek 6800gt agp for those that did not know.

your system will be bottlenecked by your cpu/ram as i had a 2500+ and was bottlenecked even on a 6600GT a oc to 3200+ speeds can only get you so far

anyways, if you are purchasing new it would likely be expensive.... and i think a 6800GS would be cheaper and same performance no?

Leadtek GeForce 6800GT
nice cooling solution and fast as hell easily one of the top 3 6800gt cards imo
if you really think blowing 300 on an agp card is wise tho

Yes well i was just informing the op that the 6800gt normally is a single slot card, with exception of a few. He could have gotten his facts mixed up. Here is the sapphire x1900xt toxic water cooled- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102018 . And OP you should spend your money on a 7800gs co, how much can you get the 6800gt for? Is it used?

The 6800GT will SMOKE the X800. The big cooler of the Leadtek is actually suppose to be pretty quiet I thought.

thanks.
afraid i made a huge booboo on this one.
the card was being offered for £70 [about $110] and I asked about a mod the seller made to the cooling [swapping out the normal fan for a 80mm fan hence the need for yet another free pci slot] and in the interim it was snapped up :(

x800 going for the same price but thankfully i have first dibs on that!
how does this compare with the 6600GT 128mb? title editted accordingly?
