Which Geforce video card should I buy

Ausm

Which one would you buy right now

Geforce GTS 32 meg

Geforce GTS 64 Meg

Geforce GTS 64 Meg Ultra

Right now I got a Voodoo 3 3000 which really sucks and it is time to buy a new card. I tried to run Nascar 4 on my box and it ran like crap.

Keep in mind that I am married and the wife limits my upgrades 🙁

Haha, I am in the exact same boat as you are...I just have to spend a few more buck on my baby boy's milk.

I also want to upgrade my TNT2 Ultra to one of these cards. I think in addition to what card has the best price/performance ratio, you have to think about your cpu. Tom's hardware has a good article on how these cards scales on different CPU.

So on my Dual celery 366@550, I think I am probably going to go with a cheap upgrade now until I get better CPU. That's why I am thinking of getting the cheapest GTS 32meg out there and be happy with it. Yeah it is awfully tempting to get the ultra one, especially they have a deal at buy.com for $350 (Elsa Geforce2 Ultra)....but my cpu is probably not going to take advantage of it, and by the time I want to upgrade my cpu (when AMD760MP with Polamino is out), I am sure better generation of video cards with better prices are going to be out.

Just my 2 cents

Why not the Pro? If you look around, you can get one for $200 + SH

Most Pro's will overclock to Ultra Speeds..

Check this link..

$200 GTS Pro

It's out of stock, but seems to be worth waiting for.

Yeah...I saw that deal too. But with those unknown card manufacturer, I am not sure if you will get a good quality card. I know they all use the reference Nvidia chip/design, but sometime to get that low a price, they cut corners on other components on the cards. It is kind of risky spending $200 buck on a generic card....just MHO.

I have a Visiontek Geforce 2 GTS 32meg which I bought for $160 + SH last December and I have been quite happy with it, if that helps any 🙂

my biggest concern is if I by the 32 meg will it become dated ALOT sooner then if I bought the 64 meg card

I use to have those fears, but the advent of reference board designs have pretty much killed that argument. IMO the thing to watch out for is slow ram.

go with a 64 meg i'd say. if you aren't going to upgrade for a long time, you'll probably thank yourself in the end. if you can afford it, get the pro. guillemot also offers the gts in a 64 meg version too.

My advice: Geforce GTS 64 Meg Ultra. With the ultra's higher memory bandwidth you have a half-assed chance of enjoying all games in 32-bit color. Running NOLF, for instance, on my GF 2 32MB, 32-bit is amazingly slow unless I choose 640x480. 🙁

Looks like I am looking at getting this card...looks like quality to me

Leadtek Winfast Geforce 2 Pro GTS 64MB DDR RAM 4X AGP Video Card

I'd go with a Pro right now. Not much more expensive than a GTS, and you get faster ram, which is the important part. The Ultra is still too expensive IMO.

I won a Creative Geforce 2 GTS 32 MB for $196 with shipping included in a retail box from Egay. This card rules!
