Which garage door openers to buy???

The 2 most popular seem to be Genie and Craftsman. Any recommendations? Anything to be aware of being installing?

I have a genie and I've had issues with mine. My next one will be a Chamberlain or sears. If I HAVE to get another genie, it'll be a chain drive.

I sold garage door openers a few years ago. At that time, Genie was pure junk. Chamberlain made great stuff and it's what I just bought for my house. Oh and AFAIK, the Craftsman openers are still just rebadged Chamberlain - so they're good stuff.

Cool, thanks for the advice. My other problem is that I have 2 small doors instead of 1 big door. So, I'll need to buy 2 openers and most are kits which come with extra clickers and code panels....... so I'll have double!

There's a genie unit that HomeDepot sells that has a lifetime warranty. It's a screwdrive unit and is what I installed for our Garage. My buddy recommended it as being quiet and fast (open). It was pretty simple to install and works fairly well. I haven't owned it long enough to say how well it'll work. In my old house I had a Craftsman opener that was there before I moved in and lasted the 5yrs I lived there.

There are some commercial models out there (available to pro's) that have heavier duty motors and such...

For the price I liked the Genie the best, came with 2 remotes, keypad, etc for $199 after rebate. I used a 10% off coupon too so I think final cost was closer to $180.

Nothing better than a genuine Martin Door Opener. I paid $300.00 for mine -- they are made right here in Salt Lake City, UT. Genuine USA door opener.

It's so quiet, I can't hear the door open or close from inside my house. I got the chain drive model. Their belt drive model is even quieter.
