I just got a MX700 and wanted to get a new mouse pad to replace my old rubber one. Which mouse pad, such as icemat, everglide, func, ratzpad, has the best performance? Any opinions are appreciated! Thanks

I just got a fUnc 1030 surface a few days ago. I have already gotten used to the new surface and I am fragging more efficiently than ever. =)

another vote for the fUnc. it's kind of expensive (around $20) but well worth it!

The func pad is supposed to be the best but I bought a ratpadz because it was much cheaper and I'm happy with it so far.

For the longest time I used the $1 cloth and rubber mousepads bought at computer shows, but they needed to be washed occasionally - yes, they'd actually stand up to a hand washing with detergent. But I've found that my desk surface seems to work just fine - it's pretty solid material, don't know what it is exactly, with a light texturing. My Logitech Dual Optical tracks very nicely on it.

I gather it's purely down to preference. Some surfaces are fast & "frictionless"/low traction, some offer resistance/high traction which is better for precision, supposably. A point of the fUnc is it's double sided - one side is the frictionless type, the other with resistance. A nice idea if you dont know what you'd prefer. I use a ratpad which has been good although its worn down more than expected and am considering a fUnc, even though an awful lot of the mouspad crap is just fashion.

many "pro's" use a specific pad because theyre sponsored to do so.

fUnc 1030
Ratpadz
Everglide Giganta/Attack
Icemat (glass)
Steelpad (steel)

note some pads are known to have problems with either logitechs or ms mice, working perfectly with one but going a bit nuts with another - google your desired pad to find out which.

Do they really make a difference?? I've always hated mouse pad... but maybe thats because i've only used crapy ones. do you guys notice a difference. I've always just used my desk surface... it aways seemed to work even better then the mouse pads... and i would never find my self half on the desk and half on the pad. can anyone convice me that i should use a mouse pad?

Which gaming mouse pad is the best?

Not as easy to pick one model however the Black Icemat and SteelPad(Logitech MX series work fine with these) are the ones to go for if you are concerned with wear and tear of the normal plastic type mouse pads over time, the Everglide Giganta Optical pad is very good if you want to extend the battery life of your MX700 while in operation between recharges and is also a good gaming mouse pad,Ratzpad is also another good choice.

The fUnc 1030 is ok but there have been some bad feedback with some optical mice.

The safest bet for any optical mice would be the Everglide Giganta Optical pad,but like Davegod said each have some good and bad points and some will not work with all optical mice.

Bad feedback with optical mice? How so?

I haven't noticed anything at all wrong with my fUnc 1030 and my MX500

Some people were reporting problems with the FUnc 1030 on some older optical mice models, the MX500 is a new model & should work fine on all the popular mouse pads except the original Icemat model.

I agree. But, to each his own. You need to find out which one works for you. I like the Func pad, but my gamer friends say it's too smooth for them. They like a more rough surface. *shrug*

I have the same combination, mx700 w func 1030 pad, I love it, I prefer the smooth side, and when my friend uses it he likes the rough side so he just lips it over.

doesn't make much difference now that mice are optical. just get a smooth non grippy surface.
