I just got a new PC at work and it's a 3.2GHz P4 with 512MB RAM and integrated Intel video. Are there any games other than old 2d stuff that will play halfway decent on it?

It has a PCI-e slot and I'm thinking that I might buy a cheapo X300 card to play games on it since I stay late

WarCraft III should be playable, with everything turned down to crap graphics settings. Old 3d games should still work.

I'd go for ZSNES with the super nintendo classics, but you said no old 2d stuff.

You know an x300 will be only slightly better than the integrated, I wouldn't waste your money.

all the nfs up to underground will work fine with reduced detail.
unreal tournament should work ok
descent freespace/freespace 2 work
4x4 evo works fine

as malak said, an x300 would be a waste...

Descent 3. Deus Ex. Anachronox. Quake 3. Serious Sam 1st and 2nd. Unreal. Unreal Tournament. Red Faction. Max Payne 1. Freelancer. Empire Earth.
Total Anihilation: Kingdoms (3D mode doesnt really do much.)

Most of those games have a wide variety of graphics options. You may need to cut them down to bare minimum for smooth play.

Silent Storm is veeeery cpu intensive. Might want to check that out (but then again, it's a rare NA release, unless you go online . . . ..).

Wait, you should be working at work right? :) I usually just play puzzle games when I am bored at work, many of the popcap games allow me to waste an hour or so quite easily and nothing to install.

Check your facts
(Partly the fact that in many tests, the integrated wouldn't work at all).

First off, every single benchmark is for a brand new FPS, the one genre that needs a graphics card more than any other. Second off, the x300 was unplayable. 30 fps is TERRIBLE in an FPS. Third, by next year every new computer will have integrated graphics that are based on the x300 core. The card doesn't even deserve to be a card. It's a waste of money.

installed ST Armada and played a little on friday

I'll need to buy another copy of Starcraft on ebay or on sale somewhere since I sold my originals and my burned copies don't have a CD key

I work 10am to 6pm and by 5pm all the work is done and there is nothing to do but sit around in case something goes wrong. LAtely I've been updating jetdirect firmware out of boredom
