According to Steam, these 3 games release on may 17th:

- Fable 3
- Dungeon Siege III
- The Witcher 2

Which one will you buy?

As much as I want to say The Witcher 2, I'll probably grab Dungeon Siege III. I've been craving a senseless hack and slash since I got bored of (beat all difficulties and have become ridiculously powerful in) Titan Quest.

None of them. Nothing released/releasing this month really interest me actually.

I'd say DS3/F3/TW2 in that order. DS3 may not be amazing (or maybe it will be, who knows) but it's got a good track record and it'd be harder to screw up a hack and slash than it is an RPG like F3/TW2 imo. Plus if you've got a friend with it the previous two games have been pretty damn fun multiplayer.

Fable 3 I do want to try, but it's one I'm willing to wait for. Probably grab it at a holiday sale on Steam or something.

TW2 I wouldn't blindly recommend because it's such a love it or hate it game. TW1 I tried and tried to like but 20 hours later I gave up because there were just too many fatal flaws to it. And theres other people who swear by it, so who can say.

I wish more games had demos these days.

You should have bought Torchlight when it was on sale.

As for the thread question - if I had to buy one on release day it would be the Witcher, but I have dozens of unplayed or barely played games from steam and other sales so I'll wait for the price drop.

Steam and D2D have effectivly eliminated me as a release day buyer by stuffing my account with cheap games.

Not that I'm complaining one bit.

The Witcher 2 without a doubt, and I wasn't even a fan of the first one! Fable 3 isn't going to be great, and Obsidian can't be trusted to make a non-buggy or incomplete RPG.

Fable 3 shouldn't even be on your radar. The Witcher 2 is likely to be the best, but I am interested in Disciples 3 as well. While Obsidian games are buggy/incomplete, they do make good games still.

LA Noire

Of course that's something PC only gamers won't be able to enjoy yet... but that's what I'm getting :awe:

None of them, I don't like medieval type settings. Brink looks interesting to me but I can't justify dropping $60 on one game.

DS3 definitely. I'm in the mood for a hack n slash RPG.

I had a hard time getting into The Witcher. It had a really interesting premise but I just didn't find it fun to play.

As far as Fable 3. . . meh, I find it impossible to get excited about Fable anymore. I guess it was fun farting on people, having lots of babies, and becoming a fatass slum lord, but the actual core gameplay/combat mechanics of Fable are so boring.

Pass on Fable 3. If you really want to play it, borrow a 360 and rent it or something. I bought Fable 3 for my 360, beat it and sold it promptly a week later.

Easy combat, lackluster story, and no replayability IMO.

proberly skip all three.

Fable does not strike me as worth the time (not played previous ones).

DS3, played the first 2 (2 was better than 1 personally), and from what I have seen, the interface has changed greatly / idea behind the game. So skiping it (consolized too much for my liking vs what it was).

Witcher, have not looked at before, #1 IIRC was not something that got my attention back then, so not expecting this one to either at the moment.

The Witcher 2...I never even played the first one, but it looks so amazing.

The Witcher EE is $5 on GOG.com. TW2 is $35 on D2D with the code "SIZZLE".

Witcher 2.

Dungeon Siege would have interested me if it didn't look like they completely ruined it on PC in favor of making it work on consoles. The game play looks like a complete joke to me, and nothing like a good ARPG should on PC.

How do you consolize a hack and slash? DS was already pretty heavy on the action and pretty light on the RPG, with big bloody explosions, stereotypical characters and an as-expected story, and it really wasn't very hard. There's nothing wrong with that, but it already is what everyone seems to 'hate' about 'consolization'. And yet they're still fun.

It's like anytime anyone sees something they don't like in a game or when a sequel looks different it's instantly because of 'consolization', in every thread.

Thanks for the heads up, I think i'll buy the original game for now.. I want to play it safe as this is my first foray into an RPG.
