Which Flat Screen 19" Monitor?

Looking for a 19" flat screen monitor and would like some user advice. I'm looking for the usual... biggest bang for the buck kind of deal. I am not a heavy graphics user but want a monitor that performs well for gaming, surfing, scanning and MS Word \ Excel work and is easy on the eyes.

I have access to an employee purchase deal with Dell which would be an easy purchase, but I want more info before I sign on the dotted line.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

The Samsung 900NF or 955DF are both good, and if you can find the old 19" KDS Avitron for a low price that would be a good deal too

LG 995FT -=REAL=- flatscreen goodness..

sorry, so for all the threads i've read they've always said "Sony", "Panasonic" and the like and i thought i'd add a bit of variety 🙂

Anyway, i've seen this monitor and damn it's flat. It looks almost concave (looks like it bend inward) but they say its because we are all use to monitors bending outwards.. Whether it reduces eye strain etc etc, i wouldn't know..

THe 900 NF or a NEC monitor (not sure what model) are both great. Seen both of them side by side and both great monitors. The Sony G400 of course looks even better, but it's also much more expensive.

FOr best bang for buck, probalby the 900NF

What about the dell P991 it has the same specs as the Sony G400. Same size and dot pitch, and can be gotten on ebay for like $200 plus shipping and handling. I am going to buy this monitor when i can find a deal on it.

Agreed with the Dell P991. My nextdoor dorm neighbor has one of these and its pretty much the same as the Sony image quality-wise

Thanks everyone.... Isn't the Sony G400 basically the same as the 19" flat screen that Dell hasl? We've got some of the flat 19" Dells at work and they look good but they go for around $400. I'll go that much if I have to, but I haven't seen many other 19" flat monitors around that I could compare it to.

I'm using a KDS Avitron 17" now and it's been a good one.

I'd go for the Samsung 900NF.. I actually have one. You can get it for $317 at Dell shipped! From all their discounts.. and next day shipping. Anyhow the 900NF is sharper over the Sony .. but it's not as vibrant in color richness. Though not everyone likes the deep tones that Sony's output..

Still overall the 900Nf has awesome controls and it's very sharp and clear.
