so assume someone goes up to you and says "I have some good news and bad news, which one do you want to hear first.."

assume this good news and bad news can potentially be on any topic in the world, and will apply to you directly.

which do you want to hear first?

good news first, because if I hear the bad first, the good won't sound nearly as good anyways...maybe even sound like just more bad news. If I hear the good news first, I at least get to feel good for a bit about it, whereas I wouldn't feel good about it at all if I heard the bad news first.
