Hi all i'm starting to get back into all the PC stuff after getting a new system a few weeks ago... at the moment i am using th NVIDIA firewall (set on anti-hack only) - this utility came with my ASUS mobo and i have the windows 1 turned off...!!!

However, i'm not sure how good this is (although i have had no trouble yet!) and i've heard mixed reprts about freebies such as Zone Alarm.

So, what would my best (free) option be - keep the NVIDIA or change to another like Zone Alarm?

For security i have AVG Free edition and Microsoft Anti Spyware (which sucks) both doing the real time protection stuff - i scan 1/week with AdAware and thankfully this picks up everything that Microsoft misses (which is a lot!!!) 🙂

thanx guys

Currently, hardware firewall (SMC router) and Windows XP SP2 firewall. I've been thinking of trying Kerio instead of Windows XP.

i use zone alarm's security suite, the paid version. it has firewall, anti-virus, and antispyware.
i also use microsoft's anti-spyware at home and work. it works better than most others. although, not every spyware scanner is going to find every spyware. i've used 4 different scanners at once and each one found something the others didn't. so its good to use more thaqn 1 anyway.

-Microsoft Anti-Spyware
-Adaware SE Personal
