Which finger do you use to scroll your mouse wheel?

This sort of came up accidentally during one of our lunch-time conversations. Apparently, everyone in my office uses their middle finger, while I use my index finger.

I tried using my middle finger, but it just feels so.. awkward -- especially when online gaming.

So, that being said. Which finger do YOU use? I know I'm not the only freak.

Index unless I'm scrolling fast, then I use both and alternate them so I can go quicker.

Index finger on left mouse button
Middle finger on scroll wheel
Ring finger on right mouse button

Seems more efficient to me than using one finger for double duty
(I use the scroll wheel a lot, as well as the middle mouse button for opening new tabs in FireFox)

I switch between my index and middle finger (not conciously though) although I probably use my index finger more.

It seems to me that using the index finger is fairly standard...but then again, i don't spend much time thinking about this!

I use my index finger... I like to give myself a handicap so I don't feel so bad showing the kiddies a bad rerun of My Little Pwnies in a FPS game.

EDIT: Actually it seems I use both... right after I left this thread I scrolled down using my middle finger without even thinking about it, then switched to my index finger and scrolled back up. I think that's a bit weirder than just using one :p.

I never really paid attention to this...but it depends on the mouse.

If it's a "normal" two button mouse with a wheel then I scroll with my index finger. If it's a multi button mouse with "back" buttons on the side then I use my middle finger.

Index. If I'm switching weapons, I'm not shooting - and I've noticed that I use the "side" of my finger as well.

I've never really given it much thought up until this point

Middle. The ability to have 3 commands "at your fingertips" beats vaing only 2. Because you simply cant click the mouse button AND scroll the mousehweel, whereas you can if you use all the fingers.

But really, it doesnt make much difference.

Ok, now that's hardcore. I just tried that out of sheer curiosity and.. well, that's just not happening.

It seems that I alternate between the middle and the ring finger. I just tried the index and it feels awkward, plus it's harder to left click.
