No, the Free market works better. The FDA has been a huge failure, and Tom Coburn just pointed out that their overregulation was what caused the latest salmonella scare. It's infested by Big Pharma agents, and it's responsible for the deaths of many people.
The worst pollution is on government property. The EPA sucks.
No, at it's inception, the FDA was THE best agency in the world at keeping harmful substances off our shelves. Today, because of changes in its funding and processes, it is subjected to too much pressure from corporations desperate to push their products through ASAP in order to maximize their revenue before the patents expire. The FDA could once again be a strong regulatory body if small changes were made to how it operates and is funded.
And, no, free market prescription drugs would be an epic disaster.
