What fan would you reccommend getting with the Taisol CGK742092 from nerdsbyte?
nerdsbyte HSF page
It will be used on a duron 800 o/ced to 1gig.
Do you think the YS Tech 27 CFM fan is worth the extra $5 over the fan that comes standard with the heatsink. I'm interested in keeping the fan noise down as much as possible.

Thanks.

i got the stock one, works pretty good...or maybe you could get the second one, then put both on top of the heatsink, have one suck and the other one blow, and seal off the sides with tape...i dunno...just a thought...but i kinda want to do that myself tho'

If your after the quietest hsf possible, .......... Then start w/stock fan and if you need more cooling later you can always add a higher cfm fan............?

I don't think that suck/blow two fans opposed idea will work very good!

looking at purely the specifications of these fans the delta fan supplyed, well it looks liek this:
36.5 dB - 21 cfm Thin Delta
36.0 dB - 26 cfm Y.S. Tech

Its not a fair competion cause the thin Delta is 10mm and the ystech is 25mm wide. But it ya got the space the Ystech looking purely from the manufactors specs its looks like the better way to go cause your getting more CFM at the same dB rating.

Here check out my fan site for a comparsion on quiet fans

Thanks for the extra info GiZzo. Higher cfm at the same dB level can't go wrong with that. Guess I'll pay the extra 5 for the ystech, a little extra cooling cant hurt.:D

ummm......I dunno about that 36.5 dba. seems ALOT quiet than that to me when I compare it to a sunon 60x25mm fan. Wow Lapping works, I lapped my taisol and my idle temps went from 38-39 to 33-35

I agree with LohCash, 36.5 dba sounds high for the 21cfm thin Delta. The one on my Taisol CGK742092 is definitely quieter than the 60mm 27 cfm Y.S. Tech fan that I have in my other computer.

I am able to locate the thicker 25mm fans at local pc shops and then bench test them at home...........
The thin fans are not as easy to find so I like to buy them w/the hsf, if I remove them later, they are nice to use in desktop or mATX cases, or on other heatsinks.

When testing any of these fans, they sound much quieter outside the case than after mounting into a case or heatsink................ and the heatsink fan is usually quieter than the case fans anyway (except for the FOP38) or other very high RPM models.

I'm not sure you can just pick and choose completely by the fans' published dB rating?

I beleive the fan specs are probably truthful, take the ystech and run it free air off the heatsink its fairly quiet. Probably if you took a FOP-32 and a CGK742, even tho the dB rating on the fans might be the same the design of the fins on the FOP-32 might have alot more turbulence then the CGK. And even if you probably switch fans YS tech and Thin Delta on the CGK, in actullity as a unit, the YS tech will be louder due that its pushing more air causing more noisy turbulence.
