which fan should I use w/the Alpha PAL80454 Heatsink?

purbeast0

No Lifer
Okay I have narrowed it down to this heatsink. I don't think I am going to get water cooling just yet, but I think thats the HS i want from doing research on here and hearing nothing but good things. And now I gotta figure out which fan ....

At first I was thinking that noise wouldn't matter to me. But I heard the Delta from sidewinders sound library, and man that is louder than I thought they would be! But anyways, which fan would you all recommend? the HS is 80x80mm, so I am definitely thinking atleast an 80mm fan. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

I use an enermax adjustable fan. Have it set to 1/4 strength right now and it is quiet! I have my fan set to blow from the HS and I have an 80mm exhaust right next to it getting rid of that hot air. Works great. My LCD themal probe says 41c full load on my XP1600 @ 1525. Pretty good cooling. You can see a pic right here

I have a YS Tech fan on mine and it works great and not too much noise. 48.5 CFM and 36 DBA YS Tech fan and it is plenty good enough for overclocking. I got mine at svcopmucycle.com.

I use the Enermax listed above and love it. Warning that some MB's don't like rpms below 2000 or so and will report it as not running at the lower setting and turn you system off. Had this issue with both the new MSI and the Dragon +.

I use a PC Power & Cooling fan... Its relatively quiet, but the missing temperature sensor is somewhat irritating. Panaflos have the same problem.

<< Quite a colorful case you have there mofunk😉 >>

Thanks. I don't call it modding, I call it Beautifying. Ha 😀

depends on what you want to do with your cpu, overclocking or quiet

if you want quiet i'd suggest the panaflo l1a which moves 24cm and is 21db...it's what im using on my cpu and it's overclocking from xp1800 to xp1900 just fine

or if you can find one for a good price, go with a pabst 🙂
