I need a fan to use with my XP 1900+ with the Alpha PAL8045. I want to be able to overclock my XP 1900+, but I do not want a very noisy fan. Please do not recommend the Delta fan, unless you can tell me how to quiet it down a bit.

Also tell me of what sound dampening materials are good.

Thanks for your support.

I have a panaflow fan on my 8045 with a XP 1600+. It is very quiet, much quieter than the PS fan and the extra outflow antec fan in my Antec 1040 case. My CPU runs around 36 C (96 F) idle and about 40 C (104 F) under load.

I got it from HeatSink factory. It is currently listed for $49.99.

Fan Info: Includes a Panaflo Model Model FBA-08A12H 80X80X25mm, 39.6 CFM fan with a 4-Pin power connector.

It did not come with a connector for the motherboard, but the power cable can be replaced if you want to monitor the RPMs.

I donno how a Panaflo is that costly .. But I have a 80mm, 32CFM Panaflo running my Alpha 8045 and 1800+. Got it for about 12 bucks.
31C Idle and 40 C under full load. Darn good...

I got it from caseetc.com but I'll suggest try 2cooltek.com... pretty good site... though don't remember whether they have Panaflos of not..

as i said in your other thread, panaflos are the way to go. unless you can get your hands on a papst, then i think panaflos will give you the best performance/noise ratio.

You could look here for a good price and fan combo.

$32 for the 8045 with a 32 cfm fan. Not too loud either....

I use a Papst Ultra High Output (Papst 8412NGH) with my PAL8045. It's not too loud, 37db, and has a good airflow, 46.5cfm. It's acually not much louder than my old 80mm noname case fans. It has let me oc my 1600+ to 1680mhz so you definitely will be able to oc with a similar combo.

Well, since I'm a Dane I got it from a danish web-shop (StudieData) but their site is in danish, I don't know if they take international orders and they're costly compared to US prices (about 17$ per Papst fan, it ain't bad in Denmark though).
There's been a post about Papst fans here recently, and as far as I remember there's links or names on some firms that sell Papst fans there.
