Which fan is more quiet yet efficient???

I'd check over at Silent PC Review. They've got some pretty detailed fan testing, with some nice breakdowns on noise and cost.

Edit: why did you say "fan" in your topic title if you meant "heatsink"?!

I recommend the Zalman as well...

Go for the zalman. I have that one on my 2800+ and it isnt even audible on high speed from outside the case and it keeps the HS totally cool.

I've heard good things about zalmans too, but I am hesitant about circular coolers (the original thermaltakes years ago were crappy, IIRC)

Among those two, I'd pick the zalman.

Is the a big honkin' alpha out for the athlon 64 yet?

Yeah there's a new alpha, but it still takes a 80mm fan.

I'd pick the zalman out of those two, or idealy a thermalright. In general, thermalTAKE = crap.

Another vote for the Zalman. I have this one of my 2.8C P4 and it stays about 31 degrees at idle. Under a load it doesn't go over 43.

Well worth the money.
Y

Of those 2 I'll also toss in my Vote for the Zalman. Just make sure it will fit your MB before purchasing. I'd also rec a Thermalright SP-97 or SP-94 ect... that should be in a similar price range and cool even better plus they accept 92mm Fans which is a nice bonus. Hope this helps... 🙂
