I'm going to upgrade to a 1.3ghz within the next month and if I'm lucky, I'll be able to do 104x12.5 on my kt7 but I need a good/decent fan that's also quiet. I have a chrome orb right now and the manufacturer rates it at 29db and the temp goes to 143F/61.66C

I want a fan that's as quiet as the chrome orb or something close to it but I don't really mind the heat output as long as it will never go about 145F~150F/62.77C~65.55C

[I posted this @ Hardforum but no one reply =/, hoping to get better advice from here]

first off, ANYTHING will be better than the orb. secondly, i would recommend the alpha pal6035 with a sunon. it'll be quiet. if you want better performance, slap on a delta. the pal6035+delta combo is very hard to beat.

One of the best, without going all the way to a Swiftech MC462a is the Taisol CGK760092. It is forged, has copper bottom and a quiet fan, which it can have, due to it's increased cooling surface area.
Tuffguy, the Taisol is a bit better than the Alpha and quieter.

price doesn't matter, I just want a quality product that's quiet =). it's bad enough you can hear the computer from outside my door room

I'd stick with the copper-taisol... w/stock fan i find it is very close in performance to wbk38(the one witht he delta 38cfm fan).

Get the Kanie-238M Hedgehog, it's one of the best out there..... Pair it with a Sunon and you'll get nice temps. I owned both the Kanie and FOP38 and the Kanie + Sunon has similar temp readings as FOP38, but the Sunon is very quiet. I just love it.

The fan used on the Taisol is quiet, but it has a very distinct whine to it that makes it more descernable than a Sunon fan. I'd say go with an Alpha 6035/Sunon or better yet, a Denki fan...the quietest fan on the market (18 or 23 db if I'm not mistaken). A whisper is 23 db if I'm not mistaken.

taisol 760092 with the sunon is great. I agree that the stock fan is quiet but has that whine to it. I didn't like it so i opted for the sunon fan.

I didn't bother putting on the artic silver =( but the fan works great, it's no louder than the chrome orb and it cools the 1.3ghz cpu well but it took me 5 long min to clamp the thing in. Like a screw driver and my hand. Thx for the cpu + fan advice guys. The cooler model is CGK760092 btw

-----------------------------
side question: I have a kt7 mobo, is there anyway I can set the multiplier to 13, 14 or 15? It just sets the multiplier at 12.5 x 104 or something. O/C the fsb makes the system too unstable.

Hey, if money ain't a thang...then go swiftech mc-462a...you can't go wrong with it. I have it and i love it...also i heard about the new glacier HSF that is supposed to be the swiftech killer. But ya...my vote's for the mc-462a.
