Get Sting or whoever up on stage and tell him "You sounded a bit screechy in parts, and you did this bizarre arm flapping. Overall it was bland and soul crushing. Gotta tell you, singing just isn't in your future. Give it up."

I'd love to see the mega-stars get ripped into.

Weezer

"You look like a strand of grass with a guitar. Except you don't sway with the wind. It's like you're in a vacuum chamber or something. Actually, I think a strand of grass in a vacuum chamber would be more entertaining"

The Mars Volta

"wow. just wow. stop now please. i said stop, please."

The Red Hot Chili Peppers

"are those socks!? ON YOUR COCKS?!!?!"

As much as I love him and his band, Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers

Yup. He'd try REAL hard too lol. Hey, at least his voice now is passable. If he tried to sing with his 1991 voice, it'd be hilarious at best.

I think an even more hilarious idea is if John Frusciante tried. I love his (older) guitarwork, but man, that guy lyrically kills me. I think I've seen 1 cover where I thought his voice actually worked.

His dance moves alone would make Simon flip out.

Frusciante singing by himself is bad usually, with the exception of possibly his cover of Maybe. I don't mind his cover of City of New Orleans either.

He's great at adding harmony though. Weird.

I like it

Pearl Jam

"What. The. Hell. Security!" (depending on song choice, of course)

Built To Spill

"What is this? What are you supposed to be? A refugee from Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem?"

For the life of me I can't remember the song, but he did a cover when he played in San Diego that was awesome. Too lazy to find a setlist, but if you can get a cover on it, I would say it's the best cover of his I've seen (waaaaaaaay better than maybe). I know exactly why too - it's cuz he didn't sing it in that higher octave he usually does (sorry, forgot the musical term for it).

Dream Theater

"I always wondered if Lucifer could sing. I guess the answer is no"

Dream Theater's bassist

"You know, they're having a sale on facial expressions at Macy's. Buy 1 get 1 free."

Alicia Keys comes to mind.

She has a good voice in general but her new song, while a hit, is a bit off on the vocals.

That CD was a real disappointment. That was the only good song on it.

Tool

if you have ever seen Tool live you would know that is not the case, whether you like them or not, they have talent and Maynard can sing.

Reread the initial question. Tool wouldn't make it on American Idol. Why? They don't fit the mass market pop mold of all the past winners. Doesn't mean they have no talent.

well, no talent was the reason I said them.

Possibly, doing some tax research. I'll look up the lyrics later. Based on youtube search results, that looks like it. I actually have alot of video from that show. I <3 RHCP's stage setup. So awesome.

Are we talking about making it past the first round, or going all the way(or making it to the final round of 12 or whatever)? Anyway, I think the shorter list would be the ones who would do well in the competition.
