which enermax PSU, the one w/ 12V/33A or the one with separate 12v rails ?

no, all of Enermax's power supplies are high quality, just designed for different applications.. worst case senario is it won't power on (won't power the system), or it powers on, then overloads and shuts off.. in either case its not going to damage the components.. but if you want a reliable system, and you going to run this board, you need to get an Enermax with a higher +12v rail.

After reading the MSI forums, i'll return the PS and get the Enermax EG465P. Have people had luck with a neo2 and a 6800 or 6800gt and this PS?

I see the 430W FCA at Directron for $56, so I assume that's the one you're looking at. The problem with that model is it's a little older and only has 20A on the +12V line.

The newer 460W FCA (or FMA) runs around $80 and gives you 33A on the +12V.

I'm learning some of this also, but all the research I've done points to making sure you have plenty of amps, and the standards in the 400W+ range seem to have 22, 26, 33, or more on the +12V... so for $25 extra, I'd go for the 33A on the newer 460W PSU. That's the one I'll be ordering in the next couple days. 🙂[/quote]

Thanks for info on FCA FMA I was going to purchase at Directron today, guess I'll reconsider. Still might get the one for $36 for a 4 yr old machine thats only running a noisy 300w now.

Initially I had some issues with the K8N Neo2 Platnium and the first day or two I wanted to blame the PSU, but everything has turned out to be something else. This is definately not a beginners motherboard.

My dual rail Enermax Coolergiant is doing very well powering my OCed Athlong 3200+ on the Neo 2 Plat, 16amps goes to the motherboard and 15amps goes to everything else including the 6800GT.

I can highly recommend the 480 watt Enermax Coolergiant for anyone looking for a stout PSU.

Look at this:
http://store.yahoo.com/directron/eg465pfma.html

It says it is part number 465P-FMA, FMA being the new model, and is cheaper than anywhere else. BUT, its says 20A on 12v. THink this is a mistake? Maybe they just copied and pasted from the wrong item. They do sell the old FCA for more, so that is kinda weird. I'm guessing this IS the 33A/12v FMA, anyone agree?

They may be listing 2 mistakes cause the FCA says the same thing.

The specs they advertise does not match the mfg as far as I can tell. I am wondering if there are not different versions. Newegg shows different specs, but xpcgear shows the same specs as Directron. Doesn't seem to be a standard if you compare them with different sites selling them.

Also not much info, but here is one for $36.00

Waz you got in a minute before I did and answered my question before I could post it. It is confusing when they are using the same model #. They could have just went with eg466 instead of different ver. #. Thanks I think you have cleared it up once and for all.

Heh, yeah... different product numbers would be nice. 🙂 But even if we can't see specific specs on certain sites (or they look outdated), we can at least judge by the total wattage. We know that the EG465 that is 430W, 431W, or 433W are all older and have a +12V around 20A. But as long as it says it's 460W, it should be the newer EG465 with 33A. I think Enermax needs a new PR department. 🙂
