Can never go wrong buying classics, such as Terminator 2.

At least to me that is a classic...

I am really thinking of getting Gladiators. But it only has the special 2 DVD deluxe version which cost more than the normal version. Up to now, I only have 3 DVD. Matrix, Blade and Autumn in NY.

Planning to get some more. I dont care about which 'catagory'. All I want are some good movies :)

Get the Fifth Element! It has the best video quality of any DVD that I have ever seen. Blade comes next, that movie is awesome too.

T2: UE
Matrix
Usual Suspects (great director/writer commentary)
Gladiator

IMO the best picture quality I have seen is the Toy Story 1 and 2 series. Even watching up close on a monitor, I could not find any artifacts/graininess (due to the whole process being digital).

I own

Romeo Must Die
Blade
Hackers
Fifth Element Matrix
Star Trek: First Contact
Star Trek: Insurection
Lodoss Wars
Gladiator
Replacement Killers
US Marshals
Usual Suspects
Men in Black
Mission Impossible 2
Gone in 60 Seconds

US Marshals was part of a deal so I bought it but it's pretty good (3 DVDs for the price of 2), Gone in 60 was a cruel joke of a gift (a friend gave it to me and told me there was nice GT500 in it and laughed his royal ass off at the look on my face when it got totalled), Insurrection isn't really that good....the rest I think were worth it.

I also want Snatch (out in a couple weeks), Resivoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Terminator 2. But I haven't found them at a good price yet.

If you want a great reference DVD to show off your system, you must get Super Speedway. It was filmed for IMAX (70mm ?) so the picture quality is outstanding and the DD 5.1 soundtrack is incredible. You will not be disappointed.

The DVD's I would recommend:

The Matrix
Braveheart
Saving Private Ryan

... and ... Ronin. That movie has the BEST car chase scenes of any movie I have ever seen. The quality of the DVD is also very very good.

IMAX is not standard 70mm.

<< The IMAX image is ten times larger than a conventional 35mm frame and three times bigger than a standard 70mm frame. The sheer size of an IMAX film frame, combined with the unique IMAX projection technology, is the key to the extraordinary sharpness and clarity of an IMAX film. >>

Quoted from 1570 Films click on about IMAX at the top of the page.

DVDs I recommend are:

The Fifth Element (Sorry AaronP but a good DVD is based on a good movie not extra crap thrown in.)
Pi
Alien box set
Pink Floyd's The Wall
The Replacement killers
Ronin
Leon: The Professional (the uncut version of The Professional. The extra footage improves an already great movie.)
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
The Magnificent Seven
Amadeus
Singin in the Rain
Blade Runner
Titan AE
She's All That (I watch it too much to get it on tape. Yes I know it is cheesey.)
The Road Warrior
