-v3 3000
-sb live value

Get the hollywood+...but...

That would be because PowerDVD and WinDVD are software DVD decoders.
You have to use the Creative DVD player, it's like the drivers for the hardware. Hardware decoders don't work in software DVD players I don't think....

The DXR3 is essentially a Hollywood+ branded as a Creative product. And, like was mentioned before, the card doesn't work in those programs because those programs have software decoding engines!

oh $hit yeah...DXR3..I thought he said 2.

The DXR3 is the Sigma Designs RealMagic Hollywood+ Chip. But creative made the baord instead of them. It's got a few differences in the drivers, and it doesn't support Sigma's nifty remote, but the hardware is the same.

Your Decoder board is fine, but like GL and I have already said, you can't use a software decoder program with a hardware board, you are stuck using the creative DVD player, sorry guy, nothing you can about it.

Oh well, so i wont be able 2 use powerdvd or windvd with any decoder....:( What about the videologic decoder card? The guy@the pc store says their good and compatible with dvd players (not sure if he's talking about software dvd players). Well, for me its between the hollywood+ and the videologic. Please keep your input coming in.

Later :)

Netlord, take my word for it, stick with software decoding(windvd or powerdvd). I've tried both the hollywood plus and the dxr3(pretty much the same card) and they look very crappy on a monitor at least. You have the passthrough and plus it makes your whole monitor look tinted(even when not watching dvds) and trust me it will get very annoying. Powerdvd looks the best imho and your computer can handle it and it has a lot more features. Now if you want to tv out, definitely get the H plus. If not, stick with software. Peace.

I use mine on my monitor and didn't notice any problems. Anyone else notice this? I only plug in the pass-thru when I'm going to watch a dvd, so my other video isn't affected.

You already own a hollywood+ card. Do not buy another one. Just use the link I provided in the previous post to download the patch that you need to use the hollywood+ drivers and software. They will work great on your dx3.
