Which DVD/CD combo ?

Hi all,

Just about to get a CD/CDRW - do any of you think that it could be a good idea to get a combo - as in the ones that do DVD stuff as well ?

Got a samsung cd/cdrw/dvd combo drive, it does a great job.

Combo is nice if you don't have space for multiple drives, but if you do a lot of direct copies of cds, you may want 2 drives, one to read and the other to write.

Don't get Sony, I'm my experience they were kind of slow.

But someone told me that all combo drivers were slower compared to their couterparts because of their heavier dual purpose laser heads.

My lite-on cdrw/dvd drive has been serving me well for the last month. It is great and not expensive at all for around $50 at newegg.
