Which Duron CPU are locked and unlocked, What are 'week#' for?

I'm planning on purchasing Duron 600 or 700. I see some auction items saying retail box with week 29. What does that mean? Is AMD making Durons unlockable by hiding the L1? or do certain week #'s come locked?

Can someone clear this up for me.

Some chips have the L1 bridges cut, some do not. The uncut ones are unlocked, but anyone can reconnect the bridges for the locked ones.

you can buy already-unlocked cpus from computer stores too. although, just like paulip88 said, you can unlock any locked cpu using the pencil trick or a conductive pen.
