Definitely Win2k. Win9X drivers would be entirely inoperable under WinXP. Windows 2000 is based upon the Win2k kernel with few modifications. Use XP drivers if available, otherwise Win2k. If no Win2k drivers or XP drivers are available you could try WinNT4.0 though you'll likely see some issues if your forced to use NT4 drivers.

found no more isuses than with the radeons xp drivers, and i am usin win9x drivers for my soundcard under xp

I'm amazed you didnt hit a BSOD very fast.
Your just asking for problems by doing that.
